An original work of art by Sherril B. Porter. Depiction of a scene in the Sacred Grove near Palmyra, New York. This is at a resting spot on the trail that winds through the Sacred Grove with a bench. The Sacred Grove is the area where Joseph Smith received his “First Vision” in 1820. This Scene is highlighted by a trail that leads into the light of early morning as it strikes the field beyond.

This Painting is done with a dark foreground that leads to a very light warm middle ground and a light cool distant background. The bench is warm and inviting as a place to rest while you take in the scene. This painting is referenced from a photo by the artist.

aka Sher'L I was born an Artist. It was in my genes. I am the Son of Elbert H. Porter, famous dinosaur sculptor. I studied art in high school and minored in art in college. For a short time I owned a sign shop. My profession is Lab. Tech. at industrial facilities. Now that I am retired, I plan on doing my passion which is Art and in particular, Oil Painting. Presently my interests are painting wildlife, landscapes, still life, etc.
