An original work of art by Sherril B. Porter. A depiction of a Bald Eagle in flight over a natural forest scene. This is an imaginary composite image drawn from internet and photo images.
The eagle was traced and cut masking tape applied to the canvas to mask off its image from the background. The dark areas were underpainted with black gesso. Oil medium and white oil paint was applied to the sky area. The sky and clouds were then created. The medium and foreground were then created with pallet knife used to create the rocky outcrops. The masking tape in the shape of the eagle was removed. This allowed for a clean surface to add the eagle to without having to paint sky around the eagle. The eagle was then painted with detail to create an accurate depiction of an American bald Eagle in its true majesty.
aka Sher'L I was born an Artist. It was in my genes. I am the Son of Elbert H. Porter, famous dinosaur sculptor. I studied art in high school and minored in art in college. For a short time I owned a sign shop. My profession is Lab. Tech. at industrial facilities. Now that I am retired, I plan on doing my passion which is Art and in particular, Oil Painting. Presently my interests are painting wildlife, landscapes, still life, etc.
