An original work of art by Sherril B. Porter. A depiction of Balanced Rock in Arches National Park, Utah. This image is from a photo I took in the morning and positioned the rock in front of the rising sun. The effect is striking as the bright sun is hid and the aroura of the sun surrounds the rock.
The rocks are all in shadow and because of the position of the sun they are in dark silhouette. The La salle mountains are in the distance. The foreground in desert sand with scrub foliage. Balance Rock is close to the road and easy to access.
aka Sher'L I was born an Artist. It was in my genes. I am the Son of Elbert H. Porter, famous dinosaur sculptor. I studied art in high school and minored in art in college. For a short time I owned a sign shop. My profession is Lab. Tech. at industrial facilities. Now that I am retired, I plan on doing my passion which is Art and in particular, Oil Painting. Presently my interests are painting wildlife, landscapes, still life, etc.
